Cupid and Psyche are a necklace and earrings suite, so named after I made the hearts and used them as design elements. The hearts are created from a technique called lamination, whereby different non-ferrous metals are combined and then rolled out as a sheet. In this case, I used sterling silver, copper, and brass. Cupid, the necklace, is composed of brown rutilated quartz beads with hand-made sterling silver barrel beads embellished with the laminated hearts. Notice the clasp — a friction clasp, it is opened by pressing down on the citrine and pulling out the long part. Cupid is also asymmetrical in that the clasp is to be seen — there is a “swing” of 11 beads that are the bottom of the necklace. The necklace is 23 inches long. Psyche, the earrings, are composed of sterling and fine silver set with citrines and embellished with the hearts. The earrings are 1 1/2 inches from top to bottom. I have not been able to source any brown rutilated quartz beads since making this necklace, so I believe it is truly a one-of-a-kind suite.
Cupid and Psyche
The earrings are stamped Sterling and with my logo (see the blackened image). My logo is trademarked with the US Patent and Trademark Office, Reg. No. 5,878,040. Unfortunately, there was no “real estate” on Cupid for stamping.

Julie Martini, Jeweler
Recognized by the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen as a Master Artisan in Jewelry, I have been in practicing the art of making jewelry since my teen-age years. It is my passion. I strive to create jewelry pieces that are reminiscent of waltzes by Chopin or the paintings of Botticelli: alluring, subtle, balanced, natural and harmonious. I want my jewelry to delight the wearer.
