These earrings are made with bright orange and yellow and black enamel fired onto a 1 1/4 inch long copper shape. I’ve drawn a sgrafitto pattern into the top layers of the yellow and orange enamel before firing, allowing the black enamel to show through. They are shown on a pretty nickel and lead free gunmetal earwire and are light weight.
Orange, Yellow and Black Copper Enameled Earrings
222 Creations
My name is Maria Cartwright and I’m the artist of 222 Creations. I create torch fired copper enameled jewelry and flame painted copper jewelry. My enamel jewelry is made by sifting enamel, which is powdered glass, onto a copper shape. I then torch fire the piece, which fuses the enamel onto the copper, turning it back into hard, shiny glass! I love using the technique called Sgrafitto, which is drawing designs and patterns into the powdered enamel before firing. My flame painted copper jewelry is made by painting patterns onto a copper shape with just a torch, and as the copper heats and cools it turns different colors! I have control of the pattern only – nature makes the colors, so each piece will always be one of a kind! All ear wires that I use are hypo allergenic.
